In the ongoing process of global energy sector collaboration, a significant equipment transport project has recently been successfully completed: three phase-shifting rectifier transformers have been successfully shipped to Russia. This project not only demonstrates the deep cooperation between China and Russia in the field of energy technology but also tests the multifaceted collaborative capabilities ranging from production and manufacturing to cross-border logistics and transportation.

Phase-shifting rectifier transformers

Phase-shifting rectifier transformers are critical electrical equipment in power systems, responsible for important functions such as power conversion and transmission. The three phase-shifting rectifier transformers shipped to Russia this time feature high-precision phase-shifting control, high conversion efficiency, and the ability to adapt to complex power grid environments. They were custom-produced to meet the power needs of a large-scale industrial project in Russia.

The manufacturing team faced numerous challenges in the production phase. The manufacturing process of phase-shifting rectifier transformers is complex, with extremely high requirements for component precision and overall assembly quality. To ensure that the products meet the strict standards of the Russian project owner, the manufacturing company invested in advanced production equipment and experienced technical personnel. From raw material procurement to finished product assembly, each process underwent strict quality control. For example, in the core manufacturing process, high-magnetic-permeability silicon steel sheets were used, and precise cutting and stacking processes were employed to minimize core hysteresis loss. In terms of winding production, high-purity copper materials were selected, and automatic winding equipment was used to ensure the accuracy and uniformity of the winding turns, thereby improving the electrical performance of the transformer.

After production was completed, the critical stage of cross-border transportation began. Considering the large size and weight of the phase-shifting rectifier transformers, as well as their status as precision equipment, the choice of transportation method was particularly important. After a comprehensive assessment, the project team ultimately decided to adopt a sea-rail intermodal transport solution. The equipment was transported from the factory to a port in eastern China via specialized heavy-duty transport vehicles. When loading the ship at the port, large-scale lifting equipment was used, and a detailed lifting plan was formulated to ensure the safe and stable loading of the equipment onto the Ro-Ro ship. The ship successfully arrived at the port of Vostochny in Russia after ocean transport, and then the equipment was transported to its final destination by rail. During the rail transport phase, special reinforcement devices were used to ensure the stability of the equipment during long-distance transportation, and professional escorts were arranged to track the transportation status of the equipment in real time.

The cross-border transportation process also required dealing with complex logistics procedures and customs clearance issues. The project team collaborated in advance with professional customs brokers and freight forwarding companies to prepare a complete set of customs declaration documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, equipment technical parameter documents, and GOST certification documents required for market access in Russia. During the customs declaration process, they actively communicated and coordinated with customs authorities in both China and Russia to ensure that the declaration information was accurate and error-free, and that customs inspection was successfully passed, avoiding customs clearance delays due to incomplete procedures or declaration errors.

Through the joint efforts of all parties, the three phase-shifting rectifier transformers finally arrived at the Russian project site on time and safely. The Russian project owner expressed high recognition of the equipment delivery, believing that this cooperation not only demonstrated the outstanding strength of Chinese companies in the field of electrical equipment manufacturing but also reflected efficient and reliable cross-border logistics service capabilities. This case has laid a solid foundation for further cooperation between China and Russia in the energy field and provides valuable experience for other companies to carry out cross-border equipment transportation projects. With the deepening implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative, it is believed that cooperation between China and Russia in energy and related fields will become closer, injecting new momentum into the economic development and energy security of both countries.
